How EdgeIQ picks the NFL games worth watching

EdgeIQ surfaces upcoming NFL games where the model is most confident and has a verified track record at that confidence level. Here are the exact rules behind the list.

The NFL games-to-watch list on the EdgeIQ homepage and in Model Lab is not an editor's opinion. It is generated from stored projection data using a fixed rule, and the rule is published so you can decide whether you agree with it.

The rule

  • The game is an upcoming NFL fixture with a stored projection
  • The model gives the favored team at least a 70% win probability
  • At least 20 completed games have already been graded in that same confidence band

The third condition is the important one. A confident-looking number with no track record behind it is not evidence. Requiring a graded sample in the same band means every listed game comes with a real historical hit rate attached.

What each card shows

  • The favored team and the model's win probability
  • Projected score and projected margin
  • The confidence band and its verified historical accuracy and sample size
  • A link to the full game analysis

When the list is empty

Some weeks nothing clears the bar — every upcoming game is close, or the graded sample in a band is still thin. When that happens EdgeIQ shows an empty state rather than padding the list with weaker games. An honest blank is more useful than a manufactured highlight.
